5. Salt and Fluids

In this episode we focus on exercise and maintaining salt and fluid levels

The guest for episode 5 is Sophie who has travelled internationally, trekked the jungles of Sumatra and regularly enters sports events.

The recommendation for a high salt diet is opposite to the non CF diet recommendation. However sodium is an essential mineral that we cannot make in our body and therefore we must get it from our food. People with CF lose excess salt in sweating and need more salt than the non CF population. During sport or exercise is an example of a situation when CF salt needs are greatly increased.
